Univ College 101

Instead of answering all the questions, like I did in the other classes I took, I’ll just tell you straight out what the class is and was because it was kind of a weird short class. All you did was show up to class, and sit while other people in the class talked about anything they wanted. Feelings, boy friends, girl friends, food, and anything else that comes to mind were all aspects of discussion because we got so far off topic. The instructors for my class were really nice people and know their art but the class was kind of a waste.
Then on every other day of class we had a lecture in the Life Sciences building which meant we had to sit for 50 minutes and listen to whatever was on the docket for the day. Sports and recreation, the study abroad program, Social Sevices and so many other departments would come up and tell us the wonders of that department. There were a few really good presenters but most of the time the majority of their speech consisted of “um” and “well.” I didn’t meet anybody and it got I the way of my Wednesday classes. I didn’t hate the class but I sometimes came close.

ART HISTORY 103

Art History 103
What did you learn?
Byzantine, Gothic, and many other periods of art that I cant think of right now.

Did the class change your outlook on art? On life?
In a way. I’m much more knowledgeable when it comes to the architecture of churches and any structure for that matter. It’s a good class if you can stay awake

Did you love the class?
I don’t think love is the word, more like I found it interesting.

Did you hate the class?
Only when I didn’t stay awake and had an exam the next day.

Did the class change your mind about your possible major?
No, not in the slightest.

Did you make life long friends in the class?
Yeah I met some really cool people in there and sit next to them almost every class.

Was the professor or the instructor engaging?
Yes, she waas the best part about the class. She knew what she was talking about and, always was on her A game when she got up there.

Did you learn any sweet technical skills?
Nope. Just how to take better more legible notes.

Communication Arts

This is Charles Burns' work. He inspired me to become an artist in the first place.
This isn't my piece, but I wish it were.

Communications Project class
What did you learn?
I was worked to the bone and it was only project class. Just one credit and I nearly died. My teacher was Tin Slamunic.

Did the class change your outlook on art? On life?
No, but it did make my life a living hell for 5 weeks. I miss one class and I go down 2 letter grades. How is that possible?

Did you love the class?
There were lots of projects to do, none of which actually helped. He assigned a Sketchbook to us and gripped us about it every damn class. He’s a young teacher and that’s all I’m gonna say about him. No I didn’t love the class.

Did you hate the class?
No, I just don’t like the teacher. I want to get into that program but I don’t want to see him ever again.

Did the class change your mind about your possible major?
Not really. It showed me that it’s a tough course and there are a lot of people in it who I don’t want to get to know.

Did you make life long friends in the class?
I already knew most of the people in the class from previous classes.

Was the professor or the instructor engaging?
Not really. Couldn’t stop talking about himself.

Did you learn any sweet technical skills?
No.

Foucused Inquiry

Focused Inquiry
What did you learn?
Lots and lots of reading about Globalization, Lots and lots of reading about society and lots and lots of papers that didn’t change a thing.

Did the class change your outlook on art? On life?
Not at all, To be honest I don’t think I learned a darn thing but the reading was occasionally fun

Did you love the class?
Nope. Not really, I would show up unprepared many times and could get away with it every time.

Did you hate the class?
Nah, as long as you hand things in on time you’ll do fine and that’s why I don’t hate it.

Did the class change your mind about your possible major?
No, no, no. I’m no English major. There are far too many other people in the world that would run rings around me in all aspects of English.

Did you make life long friends in the class?
Yeah. I made a lot of friends in that class. One of them is my girl friend now haha.

Was the professor or the instructor engaging?
Yeah, but she wishy washy on the important stuff and strict on all the meaningless stuff.

Did you learn any sweet technical skills?
No. The class didn’t really teach me anything that I’ll need in the real world.

DRAWING STUDIO

Egon Schiele

DRAWING STUDIO
What did you learn?
Learned how to take my time when I drew. I learned how use the correct technical skills when drawing. It was Albert Epstyn’s class

Did the class change your outlook on art? On life?
I feel like every time I draw anything from this point on I’ll be using the techniques he taught us and thus will be affected for the rest of my life.

Did you love the class?
Yeah, actually I do and I’m gonna miss it too. He starts the beginning of the year by scaring the crap out of you. 8 people dropped the class, but if you stick with it and get through the first few hellish weeks where all you here is obscenities and put downs, he shows his lighter side and it becomes easier. He’s a great teacher.

Did you hate the class?
I did at one point because ever since you were a kid, teachers aren’t supposed to draw on your paper. It’s not done and its offensive to the student if you ask me. You get over it quickly though and begin to understand that he’s just there to help.

Did the class change your mind about your possible major?
Yes, I Knew nothing about how incredible the communication course was until I heard about it in his class.

Did you make life long friends in the class?
Yeah, lots of good people on that class too.

Was the professor or the instructor engaging? Yeah that’s the main reason why I liked it.

Did you learn any sweet technical skills? Yeah, that’s the whole point of the course if you’re with Albert Epstyn.

TIME STUDIO

William Stout's-Mona Zombie It has nothing to do wih the class but I like the image and make you think (just like the class I guess)

TIME STUDIO
What did you learn?
How to use tons of programs I never knew even existed before.

Did the class change your outlook on art? On life?
I don’t feel as though it was a life changing course but I do think it’s a challenge to anyone who isn’t very neat with their art (like myself).

Did you love the class?
It’s a fun class, and does a really good job of pushing you out of your comfort zone occasionally. I met some really nice people but I wasn’t in love with the class.

Did you hate the class?
By no means did I hate the class. It went at a good pace and there was good feedback.

Did the class change your mind about your possible major?
As of right now, no. I had never used imovie or any programs for movies and after we were done I wanted to do a lot more. I know I will now because I got a taste for it.

Did you make life long friends in the class?
Yes, Yes I did. Nothing but good people in that class.

Was the professor or the instructor engaging?
Yes, she kept us on our toes and had the right amount of discipline so we could view her as a friend and as a teacher.

Did you learn any sweet technical skills?
Yeah too many to list.
